When the alien forces of the Red Falcon Organization capture an allied base, it’s up to Bill and Lance to save the day, one spreader bullet at a time. Super C lacks much of the cheap deaths featured in Contra, but is still hard due to the sheer volume of enemies and bullets. Speaking of that volume, the game suffers a bit of lag when the screen gets too busy. Sloped environments, more visible projectiles and top-down vertical scrolling sections differentiate it from the original. The tight controls – the essence of the series itself – thankfully remain intact. Super C doesn’t get as much love as its predecessor, but it’s still a great run-and-gun experience overall.
