“Gamelogica premieres with 3 videos exploring mythology & theology in video games!”

After two years of conceptualization and development hell (that pun is not lost on me), months of teasing, and two weeks of previews, Gamelogica finally premiered today with its very first video, “Myth of the Ancient Red Mages”! I’m excited to reveal this project to the world, at least, but it’s also been a nerve-wracking day inviting people into this new headspace. It feels like telling folk they can come look at my sock drawer: I can see all the holes but I hope they enjoy the experience anyway.

That sells it a bit short after all the work that we’ve put into Gamelogica, cast and crew. A huge shoutout to Prof our Creative Producer, Jordan our Research Collaborator, Dan our A/V Advisor, and Adam our Pixel Artist, as well as early voice actors Phil Lonidier, Sommerfeldt, Blythe, X_Criterion, Philip Hartshorn, David Giltinan, and James Chin.

It felt right to start with red mages for the debut episode, if only so I don’t have to hear anyone say “Of course you started with Chrono Trigger!” It’s coming, don’t you worry your pretty lil head. Red mages don’t seem to have as clear of a historical, mythological, spiritual, or theological backdrop to them, at least not like black or white mages, but I got to talk about an ancient Greek lascannon, so I’m satisfied.

Please look forward to two more upcoming launch episodes dropping Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th. They are centered around the Master Sword from the Legend of Zelda and the slime from Dragon Quest. Live premieres happen at 10am Central, so you can join us and chat if you like.
