LEGO DC Super-Villains (2018) [PS4]

Get grimdark with the MCU’s storytelling Achilles’ heel: memorable supervillains. DC Comics is up to bat & man, there are a lot of baddies in this brick bunch. As is typical, the game features fully customizable characters, so I tried to think of a villain that wouldn’t be in this game. I thought I had them with Gentleman Ghost and Psycho Pirate but nope, boom, there they are. Currently playing as Black Flash and still safe… for now.

An iconic voice cast from DCAU past and wonderful fanservice both decorate a game you have certainly already played before, just with Harry Potter or Indiana Jones or Jurassic Park or big studio-driven tentpole IP #52. One of the key differences in a game like LEGO DC Super-Villains that ramps up the scale and up like this one is overly elaborate contraptions confounding puzzles whose end goal isn’t always clear.

LEGO action-adventures aren’t going to win any awards for breaking new ground (or for lack of jank) but they’re not afraid to give fans what they really want: Gilbert Gottfried as Mr Mxyzptlk. Additionally, DLC pads out an already super bloviated experience stuffed full of tons of collectibles are scattered across multiple open-worlds like so many plastic bricks on the floor just waiting to be stepped on. You will not complete LEGO DC Super-Villains in a flash.
