It’s the Chrono Trigger soundtrack! Well, of course it is. We asked you to show up and vote the GOAT, and you did! Here are the final results for Soundtrack Showdown:
There was a three-way tie for 2nd place a few hours before midnight on Saturday. I always checked to see if we’d need a final push to break a 1st place tie. Xenoblade broke that tie in the 13th hour so somebody was paying attention.
Congrats to all the soundtracks that made it this far, and those that got nominated, period! It’s a testament to the great achievements of so many musicians and composers that video game music is as widely loved and listened to as it is. Even though we spent over 20 weeks talking about video game soundtracks, I feel like we barely scratched the surface in terms of appreciation.
For the rest of this month following Soundtrack Showdown, I’m celebrating Chronovember! I’ll be sharing a favorite track off of the Chrono Trigger soundtrack every day through November. Check them all out on Twitter using #chronovember (and a very special shout out to the Wandering Mage for the clever wordplay).

Thank you to everybody who participated in this event over the past several months! I enjoyed seeing all the great nominations, both those I expected to see and those I didn’t, and hearing all the great music was a pleasure. Thank you for making Soundtrack Showdown a blast!
