“My Top 25 Favorite PS1 Games!”

If you can hear this image, you’re awesome.

Happy birthday, PlayStation the first! Thank you for all the years of fun. To celebrate, I decided to put together this list of some of my top 25 favorite PS1 games!

These might not REALLY be my top 25, but I was in a pinch. You understand. These are in no particular order and I would probably be hard-pressed to tell you exactly which one I love the most. Probably.

But each of these have been titles I’ve enjoyed through the years at various times. I love some of them for different reasons. You can see that I was a big Squaresoft and JRPG fan.

And there’s my top 25 favorite PS1 games! Look at all that gorgeous cover art!

Bet you thought I was gonna explain why I picked each one.

Hah!

So what are 25 favorites of yours from the landmark PlayStation?

  1. Nice list, I wish I had gotten to play more ps1 era Megaman.
I was big on rhythm games, so Um Jammer Lammy would have to be on my list. I liked it better than Parappa the Rappa, even!

    1. You can always play catch up! I’ve never played Um Jammer Lammy… never even heard of it, I think.

  2. I just missed the Playstation era, only playing now and again with my older sister! I have played all three of the Final Fantasy games on your list though, and I loved them all – I would also include Final Fantasy 8 personally!

  3. Man, I was just thinking about Threads of Fate earlier today. Every now and then, I think about how I want to see a sequel and maybe a remaster/remake. An underrated gem.

    1. Yeah a remake would be cool. I like that it gave you some added replay value with the two characters. In retrospect, it felt like a primitive Kingdom Hearts or something

  4. I’d have a hard time picking a Top 25 for the PS1 because I really didn’t like the console that much. We got ours in ’98 and I was still solidly a diehard Nintendo fanboy. Still ended up enjoying somethings but not a whole lot. I started getting more into it when I started game collecting in the late aughts as well with the PS1 Classics on the PS3.

But I’ll do a Top 10. That ought to be doable.

    1. Metal Gear Solid
    2. Silent Hill
    3. Resident Evil 2
    4. Final Fantasy 9
    5. Grandia
    6. Jumping Flash!
    7. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
    8. Resident Evil
    9. Jumping Flash! 2
    10. Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
